Hinterland — a German word referring to the land that is beyond what is visible or known, originally referring to the land beyond the sea. Indeed the land that is depicted in this show is well beyond the sea and captures a certain emotive sense of what resides in that unknown. These works all hold an element of mystery in the play between subtle light and overarching shadow. The space that exists between night and day has captivated the eye since the beginning of time. Come experience the Hinterland of Montana.
