01sepAll Day30Richie Carter: What We KnowSolo Exhibition(All Day) Old Main Gallery

Event Details

ON VIEW: September 2020

OPENING RECEPTION: September 11th | 6PM – 8PM

This show is about finding beauty not only in the objective–of what we can see and relate to (ie the flowers), but also being in tune with the beauty that exists in the vastness of the unknown. These works are about judgement and what we think we know and understand as humans. Most of the time, this understanding of reality is only the tip of the iceberg.  The flowers symbolize the importance of our understanding, yet are surrounded by a much less objective and more abstract background. The background is left completely white and fills the larger portion of the piece.  White contains all the colors in the visible spectrum. This serves as a metaphor for the infinite possibilities of the unknown and signifies how great indeed the unknown is. However, both give context and importance to the other.  I want the viewer to be able to relate and find beauty and emotion within what I have painted and be challenged by what is not painted.

*We are limiting the event to 45 people and asking that those in attendance wear a mask. Wine will be served but no food.
