Event Details

Tracie Spence studied psychology at Purdue University. It shortly after this time while practicing as a psychotherapist in her late 20’s that Spence found herself with her first camera and started experimenting with photography in the darkroom. Realizing her true passion was rooted in the arts Spence began to focus more on the craft of photography, being awarded 3 Fuji Film awards within her first year of shooting. With great success happening rather quickly, Spence experimented with many genres of photography before settling on advertising photography, working on international campaigns. After a traumatic brain injury halted her advertising career, Spence’s work took a turn for helping others see the beauty in rebirth and the emotional, spiritual qualities light. It may be a ray of light shining through the trees or the soul emitting through the eyes of a wild mustang, Spence reveals beauty in her subjects, and honors them through her quite reflections.
Spence’s new body of work, Grace Under Pressure, captures the strength and fortitude present in the wild mustangs that inhabit a small island off the coast of Spain. Join us for an opening reception on Friday, February 1st from 5-7pm.
